By means of
Ordinance No. 806 of September 11, 1996, published in the Official
Newspaper N° 186, volume 336 of October 4, 1996, the
Organic
Law of the Superintendence of Securities was approved as an
autonomous entity, specialized in the regulation of the securities
market. The creation law entered in validity on October 13, 1996,
however the Superintendence of Securities began its functions
starting from December 26, 1996.
Besides its
Organic
Law this Institution pursues the enforcement of:
1.
The
Lay of the Securities Market
2.
The
Internal General Regulation of Mercado de Valores, S.A. de C.V. (a
Stock Exchange Office)
3. The
Trade Code of the Republic of El Salvador, in the dispositions
that apply to the securities market.
I
t corresponds to this institution the inspection of:
a) stock exchanges; b) Brokerage Houses; c) free warehouses; d)
companies specialized in the deposit and custody of securities; e)
risk classifiers; f) institutions that render services of auxiliary
character to the securities market and, in general, the other
entities that result affected by the law in the future.
Additionally,
it inspects and watches over issuers registered in the Public
Securities Database regarding the obligations imposed by the
Organic
Law of the Superintendence of Securities and the
Law
of the Securities Market, as well as the external auditors
registered in the Public
Securities Database according to the dispositions issued by its Directive
Council. |
